Can I use the Discovery API to find domains names from company names?

This article is now deprecated, as we have a dedicated Company Name to Domain API for this!

The short answer is yes. Although this isn't what the API was originally designed for, so the results are not guaranteed. that being said, this can be a powerful way to go from a list of company names, to a list of fully enriched company profiles.

If you're confident that you have the full correct name for the company you would us the following syntax.

https://company.clearbit.com/v1/companies/search?query=name:Clearbit

If you only have a partial company name you would use the following syntax.

https://company.clearbit.com/v1/companies/search?query=name_partial:"First Round"

This is the output for that partial name search.
